We are so excited to announce a very special occasion: the 30th anniversary of bluegrass on Tuesdays in Cambridge! Back in September of 1993, Geoff Bartley took a chance on having bluegrass on Tuesdays at The Cantab Lounge, and it's since grown into one of the most successful and longest-running bluegrass nights in the world.
To mark this significant milestone, we are planning a commemorative video that will reflect our vibrant community and celebrate our rich history. Everyone who's been touched by bluegrass on Tuesdays in Cambridge is welcome to contribute (both pickers and listeners), and we would be truly honored if you could join us by recording a short video sharing your thoughts, memories, and/or your favorite story. Please send us your video as soon as possible, and here are some important pointers for your video:
(1) Please record a horizontal (a.k.a. landscape) video - this is very important!
(2) Please set your phone or camera to record at its highest resolution.
(3) Please avoid backlighting and check out these websites for specific tips:

(4) Please address your video to our entire community, but within the video, please feel free to specifically address Geoff or whoever else you'd like to. For example, you can start with "Hey everyone" or just launch right into what you want to say.
(5) Please feel free to talk about any of the following (just in case you were wondering):
The Cantab or The Cantab Lounge
Lily P's
Geoff Bartley
Bluegrass Tuesdays or Tuesday Night Bluegrass (our former name)
Cambridge or Boston (they're the same for our purposes)
Chris Parsons (chef/owner at Lily P's)
Chris Buchanan (the young bartender at The Cantab)
Mike, Christine, Steve, Judy, Dorrie, etc., etc.
Jake, Victor, Paul, Ella, etc., etc.
(6) Your video can be short and sweet, like just 15 or 30 seconds long. Or it can be longer if you have a story you'd like to share. We can't guarantee that anything specifically will make it into the final video, but we're hoping to have both a short montage and a longer version where we can include just about everything. To give you an idea of what we're looking for, please check out these examples, and please feel free to be as creative and heartfelt as you'd like!

(7) As a reminder, please upload your video as soon as possible. Please send us your video using a file-sharing option (please don't use a video-sharing tool such as YouTube or Facebook Messenger as this will likely compress the video). If you have a Gmail account, please upload your video to your Google Drive and share it with BluegrassTuesdays@gmail.com. If you don't have Google Drive, then we recommend that you use WeTransfer.com to send us your video. And if you need any help sending your file, please just let us know!
(8) After you've uploaded your video, please send the following information to BluegrassTuesdays@gmail.com:
1. the filename of your video
2. your full name as you'd like it to appear in the video
3. the city and state where you are currently living
4. 10 words or less describing who you are (for instance, "former mandolin player with The Mole Hill Mountain Boys") - please try to be as informative as possible for those people who might not know who you are
5. we might not put this in the video, but if you've ever lived in or near the Boston area, please let us know what years you lived there
(9) Please help us spread the word by inviting anyone else you can think of who's been impacted by bluegrass on Tuesdays in Cambridge to submit a video. Feel free to forward this email to anyone you'd like, or you can just ask me to send it to them if you'd prefer.
We're excited to compile these videos into a beautiful tribute that will be shared during our 30th-anniversary celebration on September 19th at Lily P's. This night promises to be a joyful gathering where we can all come together to relive the memories, enjoy the music, and connect with our wonderful community. And even if you can't join us on the 19th, your video will be a cherished part of our history and a testament to the enduring power of bluegrass on Tuesday nights in Boston.
If you have any questions or need assistance with the video upload process, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at BluegrassTuesdays@gmail.com. We can't wait to see your videos and celebrate 30 amazing years of bluegrass on Tuesdays in Cambridge together!
Thank you so much,
Tony
